Humans are undeniably moved by certain things – and it’s a unique phenomena for each of us. The “why” is everything to us.

Whether you are new to us or know us well, you’ve probably surmised by now that we crazy care about what you care about. We even go so far as to dare you to dream not just in one or two areas of your life, but twelve.

And yes, money is one of them.

Think about it: When we ask ourselves, for example, why design family time, the answer for most of us is fairly easy, even if the action itself isn’t. We love and need the experience of togetherness or connectedness.

If we ask ourselves why we work at our job. If we like our current job, that answer is also fairly easy. For example, as HG life coaches, we love the experience of being able to help someone. We love being able to hear something nobody else can, and make a connection that provides more freedom for our clients. We love the sense of fulfillment we get as a team when we plan to meet a goal and we meet it. It’s fun and exciting.

But then, when some of us think about why we make money…hmm!

Some of us might not have a deep, let alone, delicious answer here. Maybe because we have to? Because we’d be upset if we didn’t have any money? To feel secure? Because we’re afraid of what would happen if we didn’t have enough?

Why is it so easy to have a love affair with certain areas of our life, but not others? How many people do you know who have a love affair with their money? Some for sure do, but others? Many? Wonder if a major reason is that most people aren’t drilling down on the WHY!

If we ask ourselves enough times why we care about making money, the truth goes a lot deeper than security: Maybe we want power.

The power to design amazing experiences for ourselves and the people we love. Maybe we have big bold dreams about how to redesign the whole world. The more money we have, the more we can influence the causes we care most about, like justice, equality, and the sustainability of our planet.

When we have clients write their money dreams, they often start out sounding quite stale. They use words like “security” and “nough.” It’s more than likely not the truth of “why” for them. We’re just not really trained to think very deeply about this area.

When we drill deeper, we find out what people care about underneath that first layer, and it’s almost always one or more of the following:

Providing special experiences for themselves and the people they love
Being able to influence causes that are dear to them
Leaving a legacy in honor of what they believe in

Do you recognize yourself in any of these?

We all get so busy trying to make money, save it, and spend it wisely – that we lose sight of the reason behind all of it! How long has it been (if ever!) that you’ve asked your heart to chime in regarding money matters?

Your head, sure. But your heart…?

When you are present to the likely sweetness and purity of your ultimate dream for making money, you can get to work correcting patterns of bad thinking and bad behavior in a more light-hearted manner. And when you change your mindset, you’ll find that you can make more money and feel better about it too!

So think of this as a shout-out to all under-earners, over-spenders, workaholics, spendthrifts, and penny-pinchers. You CAN change your mind about money! There are simple tools we teach to help you learn how to stop sabotaging yourself and earn more happily and proudly.
